Trayectoria vital del platero Juan de Jarauta Zapata en el III centenario de su muerte (1717-2017)

Con motivo de conmemorar los 300 años de la muerte del platero catedralicio Juan de Jarauta Zapata, presentamos esta investigación para mayor reconocimiento de su figura y maestría. Afincado en el Toledo del cambio dinástico, su labor se desarrolló durante más de tres décadas, ostentando un papel relevante dentro de la platería toledana de finales del Seiscientos y comienzos del Setecientos. Contemporáneo a plateros de la talla de Juan Antonio Domínguez y precedente a la etapa dorada de los Bargas Machuca, Jarauta se ha mantenido en la sombra injustamente. En el presente artículo se aborda la vida personal, profesional y social del artista.

Abstract
On the occasion of commemorating the 300th anniversary of the death cathedral’s silversmith Juan de Jarauta Zapata, we present this investigation for greater recognition of his figure and mastery. Settled in the Toledo of the dynastic change, its work was developed during more than three decades, playing a relevant role within the silversmiths of Toledo at the end of the 17th century and beginning of the 18th century. Contemporary to silversmiths of the stature of Juan Antonio Domínguez and precedent to the golden stage of the Bargas Machuca, Jarauta has been kept in the shade unjustly. This article he addresses the personal, professional and social life of the artist.
